Why Your Values Lead To Greater Success

Are You Achieving The Success You Know You Deserve? If you answered no, you're in the right place.

If you answered yes, stick around as you may achieve even more success.

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Natalia Edelmann, Life Strategist, Certified Wellness Coach with the International Association of Wellness Professionals, and Founder of the Make It Happen Success System.

My mission is to give you life strategies that are going to help you make a transformation, a shift, so you can make the life you say you want a reality.

I want to help you improve your wellness, wealth and life fulfilment.

Today, we’re talking about YOUR SUCCESS, AND HOW YOUR VALUES LEAD TO SUCCESS.

At the end, I’m going to give you the 7-step formula that I only use with my clients, so stay tuned.

So, let me ask you…

  • Deep down inside, what is most important to you?
  • What do you want your life to stand for? What legacy do you want to leave?
  • How do you want to be in your relationship with others?

I’ve been listening to the Confidence Gap by Russ Harris, which I highly recommend by the way, and it’s all about addressing the gap between who you are right now and the person you want to be (the confident one).

It’s all the crap in between – the icky stuff – the limiting beliefs, feelings of self-doubt and everything that is holding you back.

I’m using some of what was in the book today.

I first heard about the importance of values…

Sure, I heard of values when I was growing up in grades school, but it wasn’t until I was at a speaking event I went to about 4 or 5 years ago when I was still in corporate that I really started to pay attention.

The event was: How to get out of your own way by getting clear on your values.

Your values are your heart’s deepest desires for the way you want to interact with and relate to the world, other people, and yourself.

Your values are leading principles that can guide you and motivate you as you move through life.

Your values are the inner compass that guides you toward your desired outcome. They are not the same as goals.

Values vs Goals

Outcomes are goals, the things you achieve along the way, but values are the direction, and we get very clear on your values in my success system.

A value is like heading North; a goal is like a river or a mountain or valley you aim to cross while you’re travelling in that direction.

You can’t cross off your values, but you can cross off your goals.

For example, if you want to be a loving, caring, supportive partner, that is a value, an ongoing process.

If you stop being loving, caring and supportive, then you are no longer a loving, caring, supportive partner; you are no longer living by that value.

In contrast, if you want to get married, that’s a goal – I can cross that off after I get married.

Another example is If let’s say you want a new job or new business – well – If you want a better job or you want to start a business, that’s a goal because once you get the job, you can cross that off – goal achieved!

But if you want to BE AT YOUR HIGHEST POTENTIAL AND APPLY YOURSELF FULLY at work, that’s a value, an ongoing process.

Values are not right or wrong, and they are specific to each individual and each area of your life.

If you know me, you know I use a Wheel of Life to help you assess where you are at in your life.

Areas like…

Relationships

  • What sort of brother/sister, son/daughter, uncle, auntie, parent, partner, friend do you want to be?
  • What sort of relationships would you like to build?
  • How would you interact with others if you were the ideal you in these relationships?

Careers

  • What do you value in your work?
  • What would make it more meaningful?
  • What kind of worker or leader would you like to be?
  • If you were living up to your own ideal standards, what personal qualities would you like to bring to your work?
  • What sort of relations would you like to build?

Health/Physical Well-being

  • What are your values related to maintaining your physical well-being?
  • How do you want to look after your health, with regard to sleep, diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol, etc.?
  • Why is this important?

There are other life areas of course, but that’s for another day.

Why Do Values Lead To Greater Success?

  • They help you make better choices
  • They help you step into the person you want to be
  • They help you gain confidence
  • They help you establish boundaries

The list goes on here, so what I want to leave you with is the 7 step formula that I use with my clients to help you get clearer on your goals
