For me, toxins equal low energy, lack of motivation and poor health… in other words, not operating at peak performance and not feeling vibrant, like that zest for life is not there.
Let me share with you how toxins can show up in our lives, and ways you can get rid them… These are all from personal experience, so happy to chat further.
Your People
They say that you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with – who are your 5 people?
Do they lift you up? Treat you with love and respect? Challenge you (in a good way)?
It took me a long time to realize this but when I saw this, it really hit me:
Now, I’m a very positive and patient person. I’ve let in some people in my life that I eventually had to cut off. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I am so much better for it now. I FEEL better.
Your body will send you messages and the universe will send you messages… it really comes down to this one question:
How does this person make you feel? If it’s anything less than loved, happy and joyous, it may be time to asses.
Your Environment
When you think ‘environment’ you may immediately go to what’s around you, but it’s only part of the story. Environments to me are aspects of life, so think: relationships, family, community, cooking, exercise, career, etc.
If you were to rate all of these aspects of your life on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst, not happy, and 10 being the best, full of joy, what would you see?
This is a whole new level of self-awareness. and with self-awareness comes clarity, and with clarity comes action.
Your Body
Toxins show up in our body through all sorts of ways: fatigue, poor sleep, weight gain or fluctuations, headaches, muscle aches and pains, constipation, bad breath, and skin reactions to name a few.
It can be as simple as swapping out processed foods for wholesome foods and making time for homemade cooking OR committing AND scheduling exercise so that you’re getting your body moving.
Like if you’re tired all the time, your body may be working overtime to rid itself of toxins. If your answer to coping with feeling tired is ‘more coffee!’ or ‘I just need something sweet’, you’re not doing yourself any favours.
Or like when you’re trying to lose those extra pounds and you’re exercising and eating well but nothing is happening, it could be a hormonal problem. Our natural hormone function can be seriously thrown off by toxins in our food and personal care products.
Here’s a great article I found: 7 Signs You Have Too Many Toxins In Your Life by Britta Aragon
Your Mind
Toxins show up here in the form of negative thoughts, and thoughts are formed from your conscious or unconscious minds.
They say we are our own worst critic, but we can be our own cheerleader and best friend.
Are you someone that thinks positively? that you can do anything? that life is abundant? OR Are you someone that thinks negatively? that you can’t do anything right? that once I have x, I’ll be happy?
How you talk to yourself and what you choose to feed your mind has an incredible effect on everything you do.
Don’t let self-doubt and negative thinking paralyze you.
Your Heart
I used to say home is where the heart is until I read a book called: heart is where the home is by Vanessa Marie Dewsbury.
It’s all connected really as you can probably see as you read this post, but it really all does start with your heart.
When you are not happy in your heart, when you’re not true to yourself, when you don’t LOVE yourself, it can really have an impact on your life.
Loving yourself is the secret to happiness, because with it comes self-respect, confidence, and more love than you could ever imagine.
Your Home
Is your home cluttered? Do you come home and already feel like you’ve got so much to do? OR is home your sanctuary?
Buy plants for your home, make your bed in the morning, and let go of things that don’t serve you.
This was a big one for me, and still is, but there is something about looking around a clean room and feeling peace versus looking around a messy room and feeling overwhelmed.
Chances are, if you’re cluttered at home, other areas of your life are also cluttered.
Now For Some Helpful Tips:
- Love yourself first and foremost. Be kind to yourself.
- Eat food that cleans you and makes you feel light and alive, like veggies and fruits.
- Breathe deeply whenever possible.
- Read your labels, and go homemade whenever possible.
- Use all natural personal care products, better yet, do-it-yourself. Whatever you do, buy products that are free of fragrances, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, and other potentially toxic ingredients.
- Drink water to flush out toxins and help yourself thrive (think fountain of youth).
- Exercise. Get the blood and oxygen going.
- Declutter your mind of negative thoughts, your home of things you don’t need, and of people that don’t love you as much as you love yourself.
Until next time friends.
